Although it is written in the key of A, these are closed positions which can be moved anywhere, as I tried to demonstrate. This is a slow blues. Each quarter note is broken into a triplet of 8th notes. The first note of the triplet is dotted which means it takes two of the triplet beats. This is what creates the shuffling rhythm. Sometimes in sheet music each of these patterns will be written as straight 8th notes with the reminder to swing the notes, meaning to give the first of the pair of 8th notes a slightly longer duration, creating the shuffle. ci ")mandolin GDAE
