Garfield’s Blackberry Blossom—Meeting on Southern Soil

Very much enjoying the new to me 2005 Kimble F-O oval hole mandolin.  Playing it always takes me back to one of my favorite string instrument albums, “Meeting on Southern Soil” by Norman Blake and Peter Ostroushko.

That album kicks off with the “other” Blackberry Blossom, often times called Garfield’s Blackberry Blossom.  There are many versions out there—Adam Steffey and Nashville Bluegrass Band did versions years ago—but I particularly like this version.  It’s slow with a bit of a march feel, rather than the faster jam-type fiddle tune it often is.  I’ll tab this out sometime in the future.
